First Dividend Income!

Just a quick update as I totally forgot (how could I??) that I received my first dividend income last week from shares that I have only recently started to purchase as part of my portfolio diversification! Woo hoo!

It was only a little payout of £3.80 from my small holding of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) shares but this should be the first of many dividend payouts over the coming years.  I’ll be adding it to the pot to purchase future shares.

Whilst I’m not aiming for dividends to substantially cover my expenses in the future, having a small regular income from them is my plan  – maybe they’ll cover my bingo membership….if I end up playing bingo!

    Welcome to the dividend income club, and the great thing about GSK is that they pay out four times a year.

    The payment may only be £3.80, but as the saying goes "from small acorns, large oak trees grow". I have just posted an article on how I am now really motivated as I can now see the dividend income really start to grow, and I hope you can experience this too in the future (you have the benefit of being young, so you can get years of growth).

  5. Congrats, Weenie! Only last month I received my first dividend, so I can imagine how excited you are!

    I also can't wait for my first dividends of GSK to roll in after adding them to my portfolio last month.

    I agree completely with FI UK, this is just the start!

    I received under £10 for the whole of 2013, and I was pleased. It's all additional money for doing nothing right now. Every three months that money will continue to roll in, and it'll get steadily higher.

  11. Awesome. Congrats on your first dividend payment. I'm sure it was very exciting to see in your account. Just keep watching these deposits grow over time. It's downhill from here.
