He may turn out to be right but I still wouldn't think any higher of him. I bet some professor somewhere is predicting the next crash every other month. One of them is bound to be correct sooner or later!
If it does then I'll look forward to buying the market at bargain prices π
Hi TFS, the recent share prices dropping reminded me of my post as I'd forgotten all about it. I'd rather a big crash happen sooner while I've still many years to save and invest, rather than when I don't have many years for a market recovery.
Agree – a crash is going to happen at some point and some 'expert' will always be able to say "I told you so!". Here's hoping for some bargains and ignoring all the red numbers!
"We are in the first stage of this downturn. It is too early to see what will happen – a change of this magnitude means the darkness and mist is very great," he concluded.
"This down cycle is likely to be remembered in a hundred years."
Maybe and maybe not. What I do know 100% is that I'll buy more of the worst performing asset class in my portfolio and rebalance if any of them become out of whack by 25%.
Agree RIT, may or may not happen. I too will continue to buy regardless to keep my portfolio balanced and will hopefully be able to pick up some shares at a good price! Hope you have a nice weekend.
I can't wait. I'll probably have more money then and can buy more stocks, YAY. Just remember what Warren Buffet said – be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful
Should I be willing for it to come true so I can buy more at a good price or hope it doesn't so I don't have to see my portfolio plummeting in value? Eeny-Meeny…
I actually wouldn't mind another housing crash here. I wouldn't mind trying to scoop up a different home while I have more savings on my side. Last time the housing market crashed I didn't have anything close to a down payment. But if it came around again I would be much better positioned.
But I'd also be happy with the markets slowly rising for another few years π

Bit of a scary prediction there weenie!

That would provide great buying opportunity for a whole year! We'll see if that happens or not.

Hi Tawcan, yes I know. Buy when every other mug is selling! Interesting times ahead!
Hi weenie, I followed a link from MSE to here earlier – it seems you've got the whole world spooked π
Hi Cerridwen, from MSE? Oops haha! It's not my prediction, I'm no Mystic Meg! π

What's not to like π
"remembered in a hundred years" – let's make history!
Thanks for this ermine – horror stories for the weekend haha!

Interesting. I will be back to see if his prediction comes true. I will keep buying too.

CHEERS TO THE DOWNTURN
Should I be willing for it to come true so I can buy more at a good price or hope it doesn't so I don't have to see my portfolio plummeting in value? Eeny-Meeny…
Great Buffet quote and yes, let's be greedy when it all goes belly up!

Hi Zee
In a way, I'm hoping there's a crash soon so I can pick up some funds/shares at value price and so my portfolio has time to recover!
Great idea on getting another home when the prices go down!
Thanks for stopping by.
