After announcing my exciting FIRE intentions, it’s back down to Earth with the usual monthly update!
Another great summer month where there was mostly decent weather to enjoy and sport on the TV.
The Women’s Rugby World Cup got underway and I had tickets to attend a couple of matches at a nearby stadium – it was a very enjoyable day with great attendance and atmosphere and I got another ‘live sporting event’ crossed off my list:
When I’ve been to football matches in the past, you see a lot of dads with their lads. At these matches, I saw a good number of mums with daughters!
Anyway, how did my numbers look for August?
I saved 26% of my net salary. The above includes £11.05 from doing Prolific surveys.
Shares and Investment Trusts
No new investments, I just topped up existing ones.
Anyway, current share/IT portfolio can be found here.

Future FundÂ
The rocket showed some signs of slowing down towards the end of August and I guess we could be in for some turbulence in the coming months. My FF ended up at £333,767.86.
Dividends and Other Income
A good month for dividends:
I received £665.63, of which £482.97 was from my ISAs, the rest from my SIPPs. All dividends were reinvested.
Here’s what my ISA dividend income graph looks like:
Goals Update
Not a lot else really, other than I guess I should be working on my plans for the next 2+ years, except that these past few weeks, peri-menopause symptoms haven’t been great to me, leaving me mentally exhausted.
But don’t worry, I shall get to them – I must have a plan or FIRE aint happening! I have started jotting down notes and been revisiting old posts in any case.
Hope you all had a great summer – it’s definitely Autumn now!

Hi Weenie,
Thanks for the read: all good stuff. Yes, my first thought was you probably need to get on with the reading if you want to meet your target – and then you said the same yourself – but, hey, that’s what the dark evenings of autumn/winter are for. 🙂
Incidentally, I spent the first half of September hiking the Pennine Way (heading south to north). In the first few days, as I looked across over Greater Manchester (and beyond) my thought was, “Weenie’s out there somewhere.” 🙂
Anyhow, look forward to your next update.
Hey Curlew – agree, autumn/winter nights are for reading and I’ve been partaking quite a bit with the evenings being a bit more chilly!
Hope you enjoyed that hike and the weather was good for you!
Hi weenie, I think you are right to be worried about the markets. Your FF has increased significantly over the past couple of years so why take any more risks when you are looking at maybe retiring in the next two or three years?
Fwiw, I would drastically reduce the exposure to equity, starting with individual stocks and move to bonds and cash over the coming months.
Better safe than sorry… good luck with your future plans.
